Tomb of the Unknown Soldier Honor Guard Sign

What an honor it was to make this sign as a gift for the 650th guard for the Tomb of the Unknown.

The client hand picked out these wooden numbers made from old wooden boats.

She found the perfect ones.

I didn’t want to take away from the numbers as they have so much meaning,

so I used a dark walnut stain on pine and attached the numbers from the back.

I am anxiously awaiting his response as they have not given it to him yet.

My Favorite Nighttime Moisturizer

I wanted to share with you today my favorite nighttime moisturizer for your face. It’s actually an oil that I make myself using just two ingredients. Yes, you read that right, TWO!  I have combo/oily skin in the summer time so this is just enough for me.  I will have to add some extra moisture when it starts getting cooler and my skin changes a bit. My husband who is super oily, uses this during the day. It soaks right in for him and it actually helps keeps his oil at bay for a bit longer than normal.

I have noticed a difference in my skin. It’s more radiant and I’m seeing less breakouts. I get the occasional  pimple but once I use this at night the next morning it is gone. No extra pimple serum help is needed. I love that!

I love that it’s natural skincare and I know what I am putting on my face, no weird ingredients that I can’t pronounce.  Another great benefit, it’s super cheap. I can get lots of uses out of both bottles. No more $60+ moisturizers for me.

Here are the benefits of using these two:  Frankincense essential oil is a powerful astringent, meaning it helps protect skin cells. It can be used to help reduce acne blemishes, the appearance of large pores, prevent wrinkles, and it even helps lift and tighten skin to naturally slow signs of aging. Grapeseed Oil is perfect for all skin types since it won’t clog pores or cause break-outs.

I use Now Solutions  Grapeseed Oil and Frankincense from Young Living. My recipe: 2 oz. of grape seed oil (which fills the dropper bottle) and 5-6 drops of frank.  I kinda shake it together and VOILA!

You can find grapeseed oil here: Amazon, Vitacost

Let Me Introduce Ourselves

Hello Everyone!

I wanted to come on here and introduce you to my family. We are a small family of three. Currently living in North Carolina. As you can see we are a military family. My hubby has been in the Marine Corps for 19 years. We haven’t moved as much as you think we have. His particular job has kept us here in North Carolina most of his career. We spent three years in California and have been in Virginia, Florida, and Texas.

We have been married for 18 years and have the one son who is 12.  Let me tell you, these tween years are going to kill us.  Not sure how I am going to survive the real teens and up.  He is a really good kid, has a passion for animals and would love to own his own zoo one day.

I really started Jenn Henson Designs in 2015 and got really serious about is last year. I started out with mixed media art.  I still love to slap paint and paper on a canvas, but the love of old is always on my mind. I love to go to antique stores and see what treasures I can find. I love looking at decorating magazines that feature old with new.  I constantly looking for that one piece that will make it all perfect in our home, but just haven’t quite found it yet (and that’s ok).  I will always continue to decorate and change things up.

Just recently in June I wanted to take Jenn Henson Designs to a new place.  That is where the farmhouse signs come in. I love to make these signs and see them on the walls or on shelves in other peoples homes.  I do all the designing and painting while the hubby does all the woodwork and staining of the frames.  We really make a good team and I love working with him.

I want to thank you for taking the time to stop by and I hope you will continue to come back again and again.  I plan on keeping the shop updated regularly and I always will take custom orders.  If you ever have any questions I’m just an email away.

Have a wonderful day!

I am excited to bring to you my piece of the world.  I will be adding content to the blog as well as adding items to my shop (which I am very excited about!!).

Thank you for sticking with me on this journey.
